"The Quitters" Record a Song
01/24/2000
Thanks to pusa@egroups member joltman for
unearthing this one:
Yes, you've read that correctly!!!! The boys recorded a new song.
go to musicblitz.com,
or more specifically The
Quitters. You can download an MP3 of the newest song by Chris, Dave,
and Jason! Go here for The lyrics.
We're desperately trying to find out if this is a one-shot deal or
what, we'll update you here as soon as we know.
ok, here's the scoop, thanks to Ron at Orange
recordings:
... i spoke with chris and here is the deal on "the quitters",
an old friend of theirs from high school owns (or works at)
musicblitz.com. anyways he persuaded his old friends from high school to do one (1) song.
musicblitz will take this song and submit it for inclusion on possible
soundtracks (they are doing this with alot of bands now). they could not use
the PUSA name due to a columbia contract (they might try to get the name back
later), so they came up with "the quitters". chris said they only
recorded the one song, and being all of the things that they have on their
individual platters, they have NOT reformed....but for all of those that could use a
wing and a prayer, chris did say "you never know what can happen...we did
have fun when we were doing it".... |

Lately... (8/4/2000)
Just prior to release of the CD, They announce that they've gotten back
their ENTIRE NAME back!! LONG LIVE The Presidents of the United States of
America!!!
| MusicBlitz announced this week
that now the band has regained their full original name:
"The Presidents Of The United States Of
America". This has brought about a new Album Cover
design (featuring Stanley the Standard Poodle, Dave Dederer's dog):

PUSA appear as the musical guest on CBS's
"Late Late Show". They brought along their newest
best bud, Duff McKagan (of Guns 'n Roses fame) to hold the rhythm on
the bass guitar. They played a great version of "Tiny
Explosions". Fans who were in attendance, and those
who watched the telecast were elated to see the guys together again
having so much fun. Unfortunately, the latest word from Chris
Ballew is that PUSA will NOT be touring. Hopefully during
these promotional gigs they'll just have so damn much fun that they
won't be able to keep themselves from touring.......
In case you missed it, here's how it
sounded:

- PUSA Tapes their "World Tour" Show
PUSA broke the news in the Yahoo chat, and
then it happened. They played a 'secret show' to 40 happy
ticket winners from a contest sponsored by local Seattle radio
station KISW (and of course MusicBlitz).
An extra pair of tix was auctioned off on eBay,
and our own Mike Lyon, who loves
PUSA more than money, bought them, and proceeded to fly from
Cleveland (not Boston ^_^) to Seattle just for this show.
PUSA's now somewhat regular guest Duff McKagan (of Guns 'n Roses fame)
once again held the rhythm on
the bass guitar.
Go here
for Mike Lyon's abridged account of his pilgrimage, check back in a
few days for a link to the full-on travelogue.

| 11/06/2000 When
PUSA appeared as the musical guest on CBS's
"Late Late Show" back in September,
they taped 2 songs, aired one, and saved the second for airing at a
later date. Rumors were that the second song, "I'm
Mad" would air on election day, 11/07/2000. This was
later confirmed on the "Late Late Show" website.
Well for some unknown reason, PUSA was on a day early, leaving many
PUSA fans, well .... MAD!!!
Visuals you missed: Chris throwing a
mini tantrum during the first break, jumping up and down, fists
clenched. Also, listen at the end, you'll hear what sounds
like someone banging on the keyboard, then going up and down the
keys. That's Chris' HEAD!!! Very funny.
If you were among the many who
missed it, here's how it
sounded:
