FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE THE CAPITOL HILL BLOCK PARTY 2003 - Seattle, WA Fuzed Music, The Stranger, KEXP, and The Pacific Northwest Chapter of the Recording Academy present THE CAPITOL HILL BLOCK PARTY 2003, Saturday July 12 and Sunday July 13. The Capitol Hill Block Party, Seattle's annual two-day rock carnival, brings together over 40 of the Northwest's best bands on 3 stages with two of Seattle's most important independent media outlets (The Stranger & KEXP) and one of the nation's leading Musician support groups (The Recording Academy) to celebrate the unique music, art and activist communities on Seattle's Capitol Hill. In addition to being one of the West Coast's best independent rock festivals, the Block Party will raise money for two of the Seattle music community's favorite charities - Home Alive and The Vera Project. Local Seattle politicians supportive of Seattle Music will be introducing the bands, and The Stranger's music editor Jennifer Maerz will be hosting the mainstage. The booth area at this year's Block Party will be organized by the Seattle art entrepreneurs responsible for Rummage, a wildly creative monthly market for Seattle's most unique artist made goods. The booth area will feature many interactive booths which will raise money for various area non-profits, including a put-put golf course with holes designed by a different local arts groups. Other booths will feature many of the unique businesses making up Seattle's South Capitol Hill and also booths from local community activist groups. Bands already confirmed include Death Cab for Cutie, Pretty Girls Make Graves, The Presidents of the United States of America, Pedro the Lion, DOA, Visqueen, Erase Errata, The Catheters, The Thermals, Kinski, The Glory Holes, Broadcast Oblivion, Akimbo, New Luck Toy, Ruby Doe, Mea Culpa, Hint Hint, Schoolyard Heroes, Cobra High, Asahi, The Girls, The Cripples and The Spits.
